Outside Play With Colored Ice

My daughters love playing with ice outside. They are always on the lookout for icicles and small pieces of ice, collecting it in containers and playing with it. For fun, we made our own large pieces of colored ice for outside play.

We added food coloring to water and used different sized containers. I knew the largest would be too heavy for them to move so I laid a piece of rope inside (made a loop by putting both ends into the water) which allowed them to pull it around outside.

The next day they were ready to use. They just popped right out of the containers when turned upside down.

They loved the colored ice, the pull one was popular, and it even left some colored snow for play.
