A Layered Bean Jar

I found the idea for a layered bean jar in a book awhile ago. When I thought about making one for our craft day, I decided we would also add some bugs and snake for a "hibernating jar". My daughter has asked before where the insects have gone and lately why we find ladybugs in our house.



To make it, my daughter layered the beans then put in the figure and layered on top of it. The beans represented layers of earth and we added white rice as the snow on top. We added it to our nature table and once spring comes we will wake the snake and beetle from winter hibernation.
