I having a running list of children's projects I have been wanting to make. A matching game was one of those projects. In the past I have used wooden disks and stencils or stamps for a matching game, but when I saw (somewhere) a fabric version I couldn't wait to try it.
I used felt for the top layer and then scraps of fabrics (I put another layer of white felt in between for thickness). I like how the fabric version of the memory game uses of the senses- feeling the fabric, visual discrimination- and then the memory/game aspect, which is always fun. I can also add to it as I accumulate more scraps. (One thing I would change would be to cut the fabric scraps slightly smaller than the felt square, this would insure no peeking edges.)
Though I never seem to win these memory games when I play with my children (sometimes it's a tie!) it certainly is fun.
